Taven vows to use his status as Elder God to find another solution to prevent Armageddon. This ending was deemed non-canon with the release of Mortal Kombat (2011). In the canon ending, Taven is killed, and Shao Kahn is the one who defeats Blaze, granting him godlike powers.

Many years ago, The Elder Gods foresaw that one day the Mortal Kombat tournament would be corrupted, and that the participating warriors would become too powerful and too numerous, jeopardizing the safety and existence of the realms.

Armageddon contains every character from all previous fighting game installments of the series and their respective updates and ports, not counting the adventure games such as Special Forces and Shaolin Monks.
